Sick Week

And, so we have had a week of sickness.  Lots of little warm bodies, and my big body, too!  I haven't had a fever since childhood, and, wow, that wasn't fun!  But, we made it!  My big boys are great helpers, and, thankfully, no more than three were sick at one time.  Sweet sick littles...

Lije and I share a love for the San Antonio Spurs!  So, while he wasn't feeling great, we watched game 5, when the Spurs win the championship, over and over!  It was great!  Thank you, Jesus, for a super fun series.  I was so distraught last year when San Antonio lost to the Heat.  It was so wonderful to watch them win this year!

Another sick sweetheart...

We had to make a trip to see the Doctor!  Yikes!

I decided that before my children get sick again I am going to find a printable temperature record sheet and medicine record sheet.  Keeping up with everyone's temperature and when they had meds last gets a bit confusing when so many are sick at once!!

When a family the size of ours comes down with a virus, we pretty much close down shop for a week or so.  We hunker down and just focus on making sure everyone is comfortable and gets well as quickly as possible.  It's hard seeing my little guys and girl feeling badly, but I do love slowing down, letting those go a little, and just loving on my babies.

Jack's Two Year Follow Up

Two years ago our lives changed suddenly and unexpectedly one day.  Our little Jack Jack had four seizures in one day.  He was just about to turn one and had just begun walking.

So, that crazy day happened followed by neurology appointments, an EEG, an MRI, and a perscription to an anti-seizure medication.  They told us that he would have to take the medicine for at least two years before they would even consider taking him off ~ and this only if he had no more seizures.  When your little guy has just turned one year old, praying and waiting until he is three years old sounds like forever!!  But, ya'll, he just turned three, and since that crazy day in March of 2010, he has not one seizure!!!  Thank You, Jesus!!!  We made it.

Walking into the two year follow up appointment and EEG at the Neurologist's office....

Waiting and playing... (This wall is AWESOME!! It kept him busy for a long time! Note the post EEG hair!)

We received the best news possible ~ we can begin the slow wean off his medicine!  Here he is with a celebratory milkshake!

Attempting a Comeback!

I miss this place.  I miss keeping track of the moments, the memories before I forget them.  So, I'm going to make a strong effort to return to this place, sitting, relaxing, and letting my mind free itself of all the wonderful daily happenings.  It helps me appreciate the little things when I think through them and write them out.  It does my heart good.  I need it.  So, here I am.

I feel like I haven't written in ages.  I feel like the me who used to write here is long gone.  So much has changed since I began this blog nearly 8 years ago!  I had only two children back then, and now I have seven!  Our life is different.  Our house has been renovated twice.  Our kids have grown up right before our eyes.  Life has certainly not been standing still.  I have so much backing up to do ~  so many memories that I have missed, that I need to back up and cover before I print last year's blog book.  But, that will take time, and slowly I will attempt to cover those and date them as close as possible and fit them in the slots that they belong.  But, for today I'm content to just be sitting here actually typing something! :-)

My photo
Hi! I live in a sweet country home overflowing with love and laughter. I have been blessed to journey these days beside a man that I love, respect, and admire. He is my soul-mate and best friend. Together we are seeking to raise our seven children to be lovers of God, to be wise and discerning, and to be all that our sweet God created them to be.
