Hair Question - please help!!!

I have been growing my hair out for over a year now to donate to Locks of Love. All of the sudden in the shower this morning, I had a revelation!!!! I could give my hair to Cecilia!! I got so excited just at the thought!!!! Here is the problem/question: Does anyone know if this is possible?? And, if it is how do I go about starting the process? I don't have much time. She will start chemo in a month or so. . . Thanks so much!!

I am really enjoying you all and your comments!! What precious women you are!!

I don't know, but I love the thoughts of that. It is so sweet of you. I have thought about doing Locks of Love myself.

I am of no real help, but the idea is one of the sweetest things I've ever heard. Sarah was right about you!

I hae checked up on this. Locksoflove.org is down and from what I have read they only do child wis, as does wigs for kids. More than a few people are trying to figue out where to send adult hair for adult cancer survivors. It does take hair from at least 12 people to make a wig so donating your hair to one person doesn't really work. From what I found it looks like most people prefer synthetic wigs because they are much cheper and eeasier to care for. Real hair wigs, even if donated (they cost upwards of $800), have to be custom cleaned and styled and take several months to make. This is a lovely thought but it looks like donting the hair in her name may be a better solution.

This is why I love you--you are so thoughtful! I wondered this morning, in the shower, if you'd be able to donate it, even before I read this post; isn't that funny?

And I'd take your hair in a heartbeat, it's so thick!

I have no idea, but I think that would be such a great thing to do!

I am not sure who Cecilia is, but I am thinking you may want to talk to the people at Locks of Love, they might be able to tell you how to donate for your friend. I just had my hair cut in the spring for Locks of Love. I am glad I did it; it made me feel good inside! Good for you!

Sorry about previous post. Now I realize the special lady that Cecilia is. I hope it works for her. My mom is a two-time cancer survivor. I know Cecilia can beat this, also! I am glad she has you to pray for and be there for her.

You might research Locks of Love before you do it. I've heard some negative things about them (like they really sell most of the hair and only donate a portion). If you google it, you will come across some message boards with the info. I don't know if they are 100% accurate or not.

My photo
Hi! I live in a sweet country home overflowing with love and laughter. I have been blessed to journey these days beside a man that I love, respect, and admire. He is my soul-mate and best friend. Together we are seeking to raise our seven children to be lovers of God, to be wise and discerning, and to be all that our sweet God created them to be.
